Cottage on Cambridge, Airbnb, Mount Gambier

Well, I do have a confession to make. Back in India, I used to literally look down upon Airbnb stays. Somehow some of the reviews I had read online about scammy “super hosts” did not help the cause either. Fast forward to 2019 and we are living in a country that lives and breathes Airbnb! And we finally made our first official “Airbnb” trip was along with friends in September and one could say, we fell in love with concept!

So when the time came for booking our stay for the Melbourne trip, I had gathered up enough courage to check out options on Airbnb! There were not too many options available considering we cut it too close with the booking and from the small lot I was able to chose from, we decided upon the Cottage on Cambridge. Somehow, the name struck a chord and the pictures conveyed a quirky yet cozy cottage. The heated pool is what tilted the children towards this one!

Located close to the town centre, most of the major attractions in Mount Gambier are not that far off from the Cottage on Cambridge A continental breakfast is provided and the host emails you in advance asking for your choice of bread. Milk, butter, a range of spreads along with a wide selection of cereal is available in the kitchen. Our host welcomed us and showed us around the pool (the benefits of staying next door!). She had even left a complimentary pack of Tim Tam and juices in the fridge for the children. The place was super neat, tidy and comfortable and the pool was very well maintained. The house was exactly as advertised and our host staying next door made check in and check out a breeze. More than anything, the personal touches around the house made this stay a memorable one! There were board games, books, DVD movies and even a Jack Russel to pet! How cool is that!

Overall, this stay has really made me look at Airbnb’s in a much favorable light. Do check out the Cottage on Cambridge if you are planning a trip to Mount Gambier next!
