Dario’s, Alwarpet

Dario’s has been on my Top 10 list for ages. The main issue why we had to wait for so long is that Dario’s is a pure veg restaurant and we are, well, we are pure non vegetarians 🙂 So with the Easter lent in full swing, we finally headed to this place on a Sunday for a laidback lunch.

Ambience
The décor is what strikes you the moment you enter this place. So many renditions of Mona Lisa! Seating is available outside as well. But with the world cup fever doing the rounds, we ended up inside where we could catch a glimpse of the action now and then.

Food

Now on to the menu! An Italian restaurant, it was indeed hard to make head or tails out of it. But all those cookery shows on TLC plus the attentive staff helped in finalizing the order without much ado. Since this visit was somewhat 2 weeks back, I don’t remember the names of the dishes that clearly.  To start off, we had ordered their version of the onion rings. Accompanies with a kick-ass tomato and red chilli dip, the plate was wiped clean within no time. I found these better than the ones at Cream Center and that’s saying a lot! For the main course, we ordered a potato ravioli and a rustic pizza. I had opted for potato ravioli thinking the kids might not like spinach in theirs. Unfortunately, nobody liked this dish that much. Lesson learnt, I should have ordered the spinach itself! But the pizza more than made up for this small setback. The rustic pizza was loaded with mozzarella, bell peppers, broccoli and mushrooms. I had wanted to try their lasagna too, but the person waiting on us advised against it saying this itself would suffice. And it did. We were too stuffed with the pizza to finish the ravioli! I had heard so much about the Tiramisu at this place that we ordered it anyway. I was hoping it would be made with savoiardi, alas it was more of a tiramisu cake. The coffee flavour tasted a bit too strong for my liking and the texture was slightly different to, maybe since this is the eggless version.

Service
All in all, Dario’s is an awesome place to try some Italian fare! It doesn’t matter if it is veg! Hell, it even had hardcore non vegetarians like us swooning over that pizza! And the service was impeccable!
